Advisory Board

There are eight Advisory council members, comprised of a number of Security Industry veterans who also volunteer their time to lead Mission 500 toward its goal

  • Kathleen M. Carroll
    Kathleen M. Carroll

    Carroll serves as an ambassador, spokesperson and representative for HID Global.  She oversees the company’s privacy and policy initiatives to support its brands around the world.  She also works to support public policies that address cybersecurity and privacy at the national and international levels. As part of her responsibilities, Carroll chairs the Security Industry Association’s (SIA) Government Relations Committee which works to educate legislators, business leaders and consumers about security technologies and their benefits across a spectrum of applications, including identity management, physical and logical (cyber-security) access control, food and drug safety, child safety, and patient safety.  Carroll also sits on the National Security Task Force at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. An Advisory Board member for the Identity Center at the University of Texas at Austin she is a frequent speaker at industry events, discussing the intersection of privacy and technology and the implications for both the public and private sector as this issue rapidly evolves.  In addition, she chairs the Privacy and Public Policy working group within the International Biometrics and Identification Association (IBIA). Temple University, Carroll earned a BA in Journalism. She is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and a Certified Information Privacy Professional and a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Government.

    • Herve Fages
      Herve Fages

      With extensive international experience, Herve Fages has worked within the video security industry for more than 25 years, serving in sales, marketing and in executive leadership roles. Prior to his current position as Schneider Electric, Senior Vice President, Video Line of Business, Fages has served as the Senior Vice President, Global Product Marketing for the Schneider Electric Buildings Business, and was previously Pelco Chief Marketing Officer. Early in his career, Fages worked at Tyco and Sensormatic. As the Pelco Managing Director of Asia Pacific (APAC), Fages worked diligently to grown Pelco’s presence in that region, established the Singapore office and championing the establishment of a China-based warehouse. His tenure as APAC Director saw significant expansion to Pelco operations in the APAC region, and corresponding growth in revenue and market share. Today, Fages is responsible for all global activities for the Schneider Electric video security business. Herve Fages was recently elected to serve on the SIA Board of Directors.

      • George Fletcher
        George Fletcher

        George Fletcher has been in the Security Industry for almost 30 years and has been involved in 4 Industry start-ups, playing an important role in establishing Sales and positioning strategies. His career in the Security Industry includes experience in South Africa, Canada and over 30 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. His most recent experience was leading business development for Expo Seguridad Mexico, a leading annual Security exhibition hosted in Mexico City. George is also a former Treasurer and Vice-President of SIA (Security Industry Association), and co-founder and a Director of ALAS (Latin American Security Association). In September of 2007 George Fletcher was awarded the George Lippert memorial award by SIA (Security Industry Association) for service to the Industry. He is also a former “Big Brother” and founder of “Mission 500”. He resides in Florida with his wife Andrea and two sons.

        • Alan Forman
          Alan Forman

          Alan Forman was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and began his career at the apprentice level working for a local security company. In 1974, Alan founded Arrow Protection Services Inc., which quickly grew to be one of the area’s leading companies in the installation and service of commercial and residential alarm systems with its own central station. In 1984 Alan launched Altronix Corp. in collaboration with a talented engineer named Jonathan Sohnis – his co-founder and partner. Today Altronix offers the industry’s most extensive line of low voltage products for access control, automation, video surveillance, fire, security and nurse call applications. 
Over the years, Alan has further elevated his presence in the industry by serving as a Board Member for the Security Industry Association, as President of the Staten Island Alarm Association, and as a Board member for the Metropolitan Burglar & Fire Alarm Association of New York. 

In 2005 Alan was inducted into the Security Sales & Integration Hall of Fame, which honors key industry figures for their lifetime achievement, their dedication and their accomplishments. Alan is very involved in many philanthropic organizations both locally and globally funding medical research aimed at improving the lives of children and the elderly.

          • Vince Galdi
            Vince Galdi

            Vince Galdi is the Chief Creative Officer of LRG Marketing Communications with over 25 years of marcom experience on both the agency and client side. His analytical and strategic approach to marketing is the driving force behind LRG and the agency’s proven ability to execute comprehensive marcom programs that formulate distinct brand identities across both conventional media and innovative touch points.

            • Richard Hahn
              Richard Hahn

              Richard Hahn has been involved in the security industry for over 20 years. Previously, he worked in a New York City ad agency that specialized in the financial community and Wall Street firms. 

Richard transitioned to the security industry when he was asked to head up and manage a new security publication, Security news. Soon after Richard Hahn & Associates began in 1994 and quickly developed a strong reputation with industry leaders, associations, large and small companies and the industry press. Richard has worked with Honeywell, TYCO, Bosch, ADT and many smaller companies and start-ups. In addition, Richard Hahn & Associates has experience in the international markets including Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. Today, Richard has on his team, former editors and top-quality designers. Richard Hahn & Associates provides companies with business development, networking, marketing and public relations strategies and services

              • Ronald L. Hawkins
                Ronald L. Hawkins

                Ronald Hawkins is manager of technical writing and special projects for the Security Industry Association in Silver Spring, Md. His primary responsibilities include providing research and writing support to all of SIA’s program areas, liaising with other associations and organizations and managing the implementation of research projects. 
Before joining SIA as manager of communications in 2008, Hawkins worked as a reporter then editorial page editor for Potomac News, a daily newspaper in northern Virginia, then as an associate with Lussier, Gregor, Vienna & Associates, a federal lobbying firm outside Washington, D.C.

Hawkins, a native of Maine who now lives in Alexandria, Va., holds a master’s degree in journalism and public affairs from The American University and a bachelor’s in political science from Bates College. He is a non-commissioned officer in the Maryland Air National Guard and has deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.

                • Tim Purpura
                  Tim Purpura

                  With 15+ years experience in publishing, Tim joined United Publications in 2008 as Group Publisher. Tim came from Reed Business Information as a Publisher and worked with several properties serving the electronic market, Wireless Design & Development, Fiberoptic Product News, and Lasers & Optronics. Tim’s focus was brand development (print and online), strategic planning and revenue growth. In previous lives, Tim has been Director of Human Resources at E&B Marine, a national retailer with stores in 18 states and revenue in excess of $100 million. He also served in the United States Coast Guard. Tim is married with three children and resides in Yarmouth, Maine.

                    Leads a portfolio of 11 events covering Security, Golf, Buildings, Home Improvement, Outdoor Sports and Safety. Events under management are held in the U.S. Mexico, Brazil, Abu Dhabi and China. Career includes Brand Management at Kraft Foods, Senior Marketing & Sales Management at Top Flite/Spalding/Callaway Golf and Event Leadership for Reed Exhibitions. Ed’s specialty is leading and creating customer value & profitably growing businesses by unlocking an enterprises’ hidden assets to exceed both current and potential customers’ true needs.

                    • Lora Wilson
                      Lora Wilson

                      Ms. Wilson is the Director of Marketing for the North American region of Axis. With more than 15 years of marketing experience, Ms. Wilson has been with Axis in various marketing roles for the last 6 years, working in two different regional offices including London and Boston, the company’s North American headquarters. Before coming to Axis, Ms. Wilson worked at Valassis, a marketing and promotions company, as both a marketing and client services professional.

                      • Lorena Bouwer
                        Lorena Bouwer

                        Lorena Bouwer has over seven years experience in the Security Industry and 6 years in the Occupational Health and Safety Industry. For the last 6 years she has been supporting and leading Marketing for Expo Seguridad and Safety Expo in Mexico. Her previous experience also includes two years as the Education Coordinator for the Latin American Security Association (ALAS) and five years in the Graphic Arts Industry as the import and export manager for a leading Printing Company in Mexico City. She resides in New Jersey with her spouse who is also active in the Security Industry, and two sons. She has been an active supporter of Mission 500 since it’s inception.

                        • Liz Cohen
                          Liz Cohen
                          Director of Marketing – Anixter Security

                          Liz Cohen is responsible for Anixter’s Global Solutions Marketing strategy for Security. Throughout her 10 year career at Anixter, she’s been blessed with the opportunity to spend time with people and organizations from across the world and from various cultures, learning about the unique needs of their organizations to protect their people and assets. From the years of collaboration with industry colleagues and associations, and participation in industry seminars and conferences, she uncovered a passion to leverage technology, supply chain and people to build a brighter and safer future. Liz has been running the Security 5k race at the ISC West trade show since inception and looks forward to serving and leading by example with the Mission 500 organization. Liz has a Bachelor of Science in Consumer and Family Sciences from Purdue University.

                          • Janet Fenner
                            Janet Fenner

                            Janet Fenner has been in the Security industry for more than 17 years. She served in Marketing roles at Temtec, and then Brady People ID, before joining Samsung Techwin 5 years ago. Currently the Marketing Director for North America, her team has a broad responsibility for corporate and product positioning, creating and delivering market messages, and lead generation. Throughout her career, Janet has combined her strong interpersonal skills with her ability to remain sharp, focused, and energetic throughout the entire process of a project to deliver on aggressive marketing plans and creative deliverables. She is looking forward to expanding the reach of and support for Mission500, with both her business language skills and her fluent Spanish.

                            • Andrea Ferrando
                              Andrea Ferrando
                              SHOW DIRECTOR EXPO SEGURIDAD MEXICO

                              Andrea Ferrando has been in the Security industry for over fifteen years and is currently Show Director for Expo Seguridad’s (a Security Exhibition in Mexico she co-founded in 2003). Her past tenure included five years as the Executive Director of A.L.A.S. (Latin America Security Association), a non-profit organization founded in 1997 focused on elevating the level of professionalism in the Latin American Security industry. 

Her tenure in the Industry also included time with Pelco, a world leading CCTV manufacturer, and with Ademco / Honeywell as Marketing Manager for Latin America. She is active in the industry in the USA, as well as Latin America, and continues to serve on the ALAS Board of Directors, as well as World Vision South Florida’s Advisory Council. She resides in Boca Raton with her husband and two sons.

                                SYSTEMS MANAGER – FIRST RESPONSE SYSTEMS

                                Jesse began working in the family business at a young age washing vehicles, and then moved on to working as a security guard. First Response provides electronic protection and physical guards to clients in the Northwest. He gained interest in the electronic security side of the business so he began working as a low voltage electrician through the Oregon apprenticeship program. Once he was licensed as an electrician he went on to graduate at Oregon State University with a Business Management degree with a minor in pre-Law. 

Jesse now oversees the company’s installation and service side as well as oversees the UL dispatch and monitoring center. Jesse is married and has two girls that keep him busy with coaching and other activities outside of work.

                                  Barb Holliday
                                  DIRECTOR OF DEALER SERVICES – MONITRONICS

                                  Barbara (Barb) Holliday has been in the alarm industry since 1992. In 1998 she found a home with Monitronics International, where she currently holds the position of Director of Dealer Services. Barb is passionate about the alarm industry and is known to inspire newcomers by sharing her belief that “this is a job that allows you to save lives without risking your own.”
For the past three years, Barb has volunteered as an advocate for The Turning Point, and also as a judge for the FCCLA STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) Events. Barb is a member of Women’s Security Council (WSC), The Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA) and the Electronic Security Association (ESA). 
In 2011 and 2012 Barb received the Presidential Gold and Bronze Volunteer Service Awards respectively. In 2011 she received the Mission 500 Humanitarian Award. Barb is married to Brooks Holliday and has a teenage daughter, Phoebe who will begin college in the fall of 2013.

                                    Mary Jensby
                                    INDEPENDENT SECURITY ADVISOR

                                    Mary Jensby was awarded the “Mission 500 Humanitarian of the Year Award” at ISC in Las Vegas in 2012. Mary’s passion is “Giving Back” to others. Over the years, Mary has been involved with Toys For Tots, the Salvation Army, and Various Food Banks and is currently involved with a homeless charity in the area through her church. Mary continues her efforts to make a difference in others’ lives in these tough economic times.

                                    • Luke Krawec
                                      Luke Krawec

                                      Luke Krawec currently serves as Account Executive for LRG Marketing Communications, Inc., where he works with a variety of industry leaders in professional security. He previously worked for a Hong Kong–based publisher in an account management capacity for Chinese, American and European clients, while guiding the content and marketing needs of a range of publications. Luke has written and helped develop content for several non-profit and for-profit organizations in both the US and China. He graduated with honors from Cornell University and currently lives in Nyack, NY.

                                        Meghan Lanni
                                        Business Reporting Analyst – Axis Communications

                                        Meghan Lanni graduated from Boston University in 2014 earning a Bachelors in Mathematics and Computer Science. Shortly after graduating, she started in the Finance department at Axis, moving into the Business Analyst role in the beginning of 2015. Her family is heavily involved in fostering children and teens, and most recently served as a child advocate. In October 2015, Meghan joined a group of Mission500 and World Vision volunteers on a trip to West Virginia. Currently, she works at her family’s businesses and continues to be a support system for many of the foster siblings from her childhood. She resides in her hometown in Massachusetts.

                                          Leigh McGuire
                                          MARKETING MANAGER ASIS

                                          Ms. McGuire’s began her career in the security industry as a copywriter in the advertising department at ADEMCO, now Honeywell Security Group, in 1997. She transitioned into commercial marketing in 1998, where she remained until 2000. From 2000-2008, Ms. McGuire worked for the Security Industry Association (SIA), fulfilling roles in marketing, communications, public relations, and event management over the course of her tenure. 

Currently, Ms. McGuire holds the position of marketing manager at ASIS International where she manages marketing communications for select products and services, as well as public relations for the global association. Ms. McGuire is a graduate of Marymount University in Arlington, Va. and currently resides in Fairfax, VA. She is a longtime, active volunteer for Girl Scouts of America and several other charitable organizations in Northern Virginia.

                                          • Shannon Murphy
                                            Shannon Murphy

                                            Shannon Murphy is Vice President of Sales & Marketing at the Electronic Security Association (ESA). In addition to achieving the association’s revenue goals, she is responsible for driving the association’s initiatives and positioning ESA as a visionary leader and valuable resource for the electronic life safety and security industry. Shannon has over 13 years of sales and marketing experience in the security and custom electronics industries. Prior to joining ESA, she served as VP of Business Development for AE Ventures where she was responsible for the sales and growth of the Electronic Security Expo (ESX), Electronic Security Integrators Forum and the CE Pro 100 Summit. She has held various positions previously at Netsertive, EH Publishing, Exhibitgroup/Giltspur and Daniel Roberts. Murphy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and an MBA in Marketing from Bentley University.

                                              DIRECTOR OF LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT HID GLOBAL

                                              Geanie Pfeifer is the Director of Learning and Development at HID Global, a trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity. Geanie Pfeifer possesses over 15 years of human resources experience. Her expertise includes employee relations management, recruitment, hiring, policies, talent management, organizational development and leadership and management coaching. 
Prior to joining HID Global, Geanie worked in numerous management roles in Human Resources at a mortgage company and a leading online university. She is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Science and is a graduate of the University of Phoenix where she received a Master of Business Administration, with an emphasis in Human Resources. She is also a member of numerous human resources organizations, including the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM). Geanie currently resides in Southern California with her husband and two children.

                                                Melissa Pitfield
                                                SENIOR MARKETING MANAGER

                                                Melissa Pitfield joined Hitachi Data systems in 2016 as Senior Marketing Manager, Public Safety & Smart Cities. Prior to this she worked as Director of Marketing Communications at DMP located in Springfield, MO for 11.5 years. She has 24 years of security industry experience. Melissa briefly served in a sales position for Fineline Barcoding Technology selling retail ticketing services. Prior to that, she worked for DSC in Toronto for 13 years serving as the Customer Service Manager for International Sales which included managing the distributor base; Local country approvals, product management and international marketing initiatives. Melissa has a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.

                                                  Alex Salinas

                                                  Alex Salinas has been in the Security Industry for over 10 years. He currently holds the position of Director of Business Development for Bolide Technology Group. Prior to joining Bolide he worked at a Southern California engineering firm designing and engineering communication networks. Since joining Bolide Salinas has expanded Bolides presence into 20 other countries and now has several international offices throughout Latin America and Asia. 

Alex is passionate about serving and helping people in need and has served on different types of missions throughout the world. He currently resides with his wife and family in Rogers, Arkansas where he serves his church and his community.

                                                    Jenna Wardle
                                                    GLOBAL CUSTOMER INSINGS

                                                    Jenna Wardle is an accomplished Marketing professional with over ten years’ experience in the Security Industry. Through various marketing management and sales operations roles, she has helped companies achieve revenue growth by developing targeted campaigns and programs while focusing on process improvement. 

                                                    In a newly created role with HID Global, Jenna’s focus is to drive increased customer satisfaction and loyalty while delivering measurable results to the business. Best known for taking initiative and her influential style engaging front line teams and executive leaders, Jenna is helping to drive the Customer Experience efforts within HID.

                                                    Prior to joining the Security Industry in 2006, Jenna worked in Fund Development for a nonprofit organization, focusing not only on raising money but doing so in a way that develops reliable sources of income that will sustain the organization through the realization of its long term mission and vision. Jenna received her undergraduate degree in Public Relations from California State University, Fresno, and has served on the Executive Board for Mission 500 since 2013.
