Executive Director

PURPOSE OR OBJECTIVE
Reporting to and in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will spearhead development efforts as Mission 500 continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Director will have the opportunity to create a new strategic plan and assist with implementing and executing on the strategy. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, strategic plan of the organization, as well as all fundraising efforts.

STATUS AND SCOPE
- The position reports to and is accountable to the Board of Directors
- The position advises, consults and coordinates with the Board and Project Coordinator on all aspects of Mission 500’s Development and Fundraising efforts
- Other key duties include fundraising, marketing, and community outreach

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and executes Mission 500’s annual fundraising plan, securing financial support from individuals, corporations, associations and foundations
-  Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Mission 500, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
- Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position
- Manages the implementation of a prospecting Database and oversees staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
- Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with major donors
- Oversees and assists with organization of special fundraising events
- Develops and tracks proposals and reports for all foundation and corporate fundraising
- Travels to Trade shows and events within the USA to support on site fundraising events such as gala dinners, auctions, kit-builds, charity runs, etc.
- Tracks Revenue budget and prepares Quarterly reports for Board of Directors
- Assists Event Volunteers as required with general logistics involved in fundraising initiatives
- Keeps the Board of Directors informed on Mission 500’s KPI’s and performance, and provides feedback on ways to continue expanding our efforts

EDUCATION 
Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent

EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years work experience, preferably in the security industry, or a non profit that engages companies in the industry
- Sound administrative & well developed Coordination and management skills
- Some senior for profit and/or non-profit management experience
- Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors or professional association
- High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community
- A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
- Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relation skills and understanding of the funding community

OTHER SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Good communication skills: both verbal and written. Writing creative, persuasive, concise and articulate copy is key
- Ability to research opportunities using the Internet, phone, directories and library resources
- Database and IT skills: developing and managing profiles of donors, companies and trusts on a database, as well as a record of all communications, names of contacts, and their criteria for giving
- Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff
- Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers
- Strong public speaking ability and presentation skills: to companies, individuals, boards schools, foundations, etc.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
- Relationship and account handling: servicing a donor, ensuring they are happy with their donation scheme, and are kept well informed of progress and success
- Opportunism: ability to spot a potential relationship and act upon it
- Direct marketing experience: including marketing via social networking websites
- Enthusiasm and commitment: belief and commitment to Mission 500 and it’s objectives


Development Director

PURPOSE OR OBJECTIVE
Reporting to and in partnership with the Board of Directors, the Development Director will spearhead development efforts as Mission 500 continues to grow. The Development Officer is responsible for managing relationships with assigned donors and prospects to maximize support for Mission 500

STATUS AND SCOPE
- The position reports to and is accountable to the Board of Directors
- The Development Director will be charged with raising approximately $300,000 in funds as well as supporting Mission 500 in meeting its goal of raising $1.2M+ in FY20.
- The position advises, consults and coordinates with the Board and Project Coordinator on all aspects of Mission 500’s Development and Fundraising efforts
- Other key duties include public relations and community outreach

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contributes to building and executing a comprehensive major gifts effort under the direction of the Board of Directors, contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of a comprehensive donor strategy, securing financial support from individuals, corporations, associations and foundations
- Manages the implementation of a prospecting Database and oversees staff responsible for data entry and gift processing
- Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with major donors
- Manages a gifts portfolio of 150-200 qualified individual prospects and donors.
- Identifies, cultivates, solicits, stewards and retains qualified prospects and donors capable of making gifts of $1,000-$25,000
- Oversees and assists with organization of special fundraising events
- Regularly communicate with, visit and solicit identified donors and prospects.
- Strengthens the current donor base, and increase the prospect pool
- Tracks and reports progress using specific metrics
- Keeps current on M500 programs and data in order to effectively share with donors
- Travels to Trade shows and events within the USA to support on site fundraising events such as gala dinners, auctions, kit-builds, charity runs, etc.
- Assists Event Volunteers as required with general logistics involved in fundraising initiatives

EDUCATION
Degree or Diploma in Business Administration or equivalent

EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 5 years work experience
- Business development experience, preferably in the Security Industry and/or non-profit fundraising experience
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to create well-organized documents for a variety of uses/audiences
- Proven ability to build positive working relationships at all levels by being knowledgeable and credible
- Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors
- Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers and the overall community
- A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results
- Excellent Security Industry relation skills and understanding of the donor community

OTHER SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

- Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers
- Strong public speaking ability and presentation skills: to companies, individuals, boards, foundations, etc.
- Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
- Relationship and account handling: servicing a donor, ensuring they are happy with their donation scheme, and are kept well informed of progress and success
- Opportunism: ability to spot a potential relationship and act upon it
